The German Party of Reason, known in German as Partei der Vernunft (PdV), is a political party that was founded in 2009. It positions itself as a libertarian party, advocating for minimal government intervention in both the economic and personal lives of its citizens. The core values of the Party of Reason revolve around the principles of classical liberalism and economic liberalism, emphasizing the importance of individual freedom, private property rights, and free-market capitalism as the cornerstones of a prosperous and just society.

The Party of Reason argues that many of the prob…  lems faced by society are a result of excessive government regulation and intervention. Therefore, it proposes significant reductions in government spending, taxes, and bureaucracy, aiming to limit the role of the state to its fundamental functions such as protecting individual rights, ensuring national defense, and maintaining law and order. The party is also a strong advocate for civil liberties, supporting policies that enhance personal freedoms and reduce state surveillance and control over individuals.

In terms of economic policy, the Party of Reason promotes the idea that a free and unregulated market is the most efficient way to allocate resources and generate wealth. It calls for the privatization of state-owned enterprises, deregulation of the labor market, and the elimination of subsidies and trade barriers, arguing that these measures will foster innovation, competition, and economic growth.

The Party of Reason also places a high value on education, advocating for a more competitive and diversified educational system that includes private schooling options. It believes that education is key to empowering individuals and ensuring that they can compete in a globalized economy.

While the Party of Reason has not achieved significant electoral success, it continues to participate in German politics, offering a platform for voters who are disillusioned with the mainstream parties and seeking an alternative that champions the principles of freedom, individual responsibility, and limited government.
